Johnny English Reborn Vs Tyrannosaur

Johnny English Reborn and Tyrannosaur are both movies that are from the UK. However, they are different in the way they market their films. Johnny English Reborn uses Universal Pictures to help produce and distribute the film. They are widely recognised and are known as a Commercial production company. On the other hand, Tyrannosaur uses WarpX who are an Independent production company that help to produce and distribute the film. Both films are british but they have a different approach to their budgeting and marketing costs.
For example, from the figures below. Johnny English is in 552 cinemas, where as Tyrannosaur is in 14. So Johnny English is expected to have a higher Gross than Tyrannosaur. This is because of their marketing strategy. They have a higher budget, so they can spend more on a widely recognised character but also some money is spent on advertising such as on TV and Posters.
Tyrannosaur is to expect a lower Gross than Johnny English, down to the fact that Paddy Considine, who is a well known actor, becomes a director of his first film. He had a much lower budget, so he chose an Independent producer other than a commercial one because he wasn't expecting this to be a 'Blockbuster' film. His budget was low and so this is only a recognisable film to some. He marketed his film at Film Festivals and so with the help of awards and reviews, this became more noticeable and popular than before.
Now the movie is targeted and showed at City Screen Cinemas - The Picturehouse, who are at a smaller scale than some of the major commercial cinemas. Johnny English however, targets commercial and bigger cinemas like Cineworld and Vue to achieve a higher Gross, this is down to it being more widely recognised than the City Screen Cinemas.

Also it being a PG, shows that it is also aimed at a family audience. Rowan Atkinson is a well recognised persona in the film industry, we know of him as a comedian who shows this in his role. The target audience is set at 18 and over, due to a lot of violence and swearing that occurs. Johnny English Reborn Poster
The poster shows from first sight that it is an action movie. However, the main character Rowan Atkinson hints that it will involve action but humour. The face too is not so serious, so from this we know it will be a funny movie. The poster is very simple, you know that it will require lots of shooting and action sequences because of the fiery background as well as the gun he is wielding. The target audience for the film is clearly recognised by the poster, the actor and his face that gives it away that the film follows a James Bond approach, however, it is not so serious and he is likely to show stupidity. This then has a target audience of a young/family audience.
Tyrannosaur Poster
The poster shows from first sight that it is to be aimed at the adult audience. This is because of the rule of thirds used. At the bottom of the poster, you can see a tyrannosaur rex but it is skeletal. This shows that the movie will contain a lot of violence as well murder. At the top of the poster, you see a persona in between two trees that have no leaves. The bottom of the poster seems to have a correlation with the top of the poster. The poster shows death at the bottom, a skeletal tyrannosaur as well as the roots of the tree. An underground picture is clearly shown. But, then light appears when you get to the top. The colour used shows that is very grim and that has a quite scary approach to its audience. The font also shows harshness. From the poster, you can see that its target audience is aimed at the 18+ classification.
