United 93 - Paul Greengrass

Paul Greengrass is an english director who was born in Surrey, England. He has directed many films such as The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Ultimatum, Green Zone and many more widely recognised films.
In 2006, Paul directed the film United 93 which was based on the hijacking that took place on September 11th. Paul received many awards for 'Best Director' and nomniated too for others. This was a realist drama but it combined both an enligsh and american audience. The film was british and had a niche audience. The film had a budget of $15 million however, there box office figures were $76,286,096. This clearly proves that it was a popular film and a blockbuster. Paul directed a british film, it was marketed to both the english and american audience. The film was independent and so the premiere was at Tribeca Film Festival in New York. They did not have much money to spend heavily on advertising and so this was not suppost to be as popular as it was. They were not targeting a commercial audience.
