Distribution, Promotion and Marketing

Within a year before the release of The Final Ceremony, a trailer would be the first chance to promote the movie to our target audience. The trailer will be cleverly edited and audience-tested. The idea is to give watchers a range of special effects as well as plot twists of the film's upcoming release, while leaving them wanting more.

At about the same time the first trailer hits the cinemas, we will then unveil an official Website for the film. Typical movie Websites allow visitors to view multiple versions of the trailer and so we will take this approach to allow viewers to watch behind-the-scenes interviews and mini-documentaries, read plot synopses, download cell-phone ringtones and desktop wallpaper, play games, chat in forums and even pre-order tickets. The official movie Web site is only the beginning of a much larger Internet marketing campaign. Also, apart from a Website being created we will also look to design posters that are suitable for busses and their bus stops but also posters appropriate to be stood up in many cinemas within the UK/USA regions.

As the movie is within weeks of release, movie specialists will get great press coverage in newspapers, magazines and on entertainment TV shows about the film. The publicity tactic we will use is a press junket. This is when journalists, reporters and movie critics are taken to a special location for a day of interviews with the cast of our film. The stars will sit in separate rooms and the specialists will be brought in one by one to ask their questions. This would be a good way of promoting the film because advertising through media is essential because it comes to the eye of many movie fanatics.

Also, weeks before the release, we will start a publicity blitz. We will use many images and promotions for the movie so that people are aware and that it becomes an unforgettable event to them. We will advertise on buses, use billboards all around the cities, place adverts in newspapers and magazines but also that we jump at the opportunity for when the movie stars are invited to major talk shows for example TV shows as well as Radio.

Another way of marketing the film would be to place adverts on Websites. They can also release behind-the-scenes clips, bloopers and other viral videos on video-sharing sites like YouTube. Or they can release different media clips and let the fans create their own trailers and the winner meets a star from the movie of their choice for the day.

There may be a lot of strategies and some will be covered however, some may be minor. Overall, i believe that we will spend around £8 million on our marketing to help bring a massive fan base through the internet and word of mouth. We have many techniques that have been proven to be successful and the film we have to offer is different and has its own unique selling point because it has never be done within the film industry.
